Summary

The functional characteristics of the photoreceptory system have been studied in free-living flatworm species – planarian Girardia tigrina (two oculars) and Polycelis tenuis (many oculars). In spite of some differences in the number of eyes between two species the similarities in mechanisms of its functioning are demonstrated. Some functional characteristics of planarian’s photoreceptors in response to the light exposure are described.
