Summary

Dirofilaria spp. infection rates in many areas of the Rostov Region by two or more times higher than in the city of Rostov-on-Don; likely it is connected with maintenance of dogs in private sector where they are being at high risk of infection as well as absence of veterinary control in these areas. In some settlements there are a large number of reservoirs suitable for development and abundant propagation of mosquitoes.
