Summary

The primary diagnosis of D. repens infection is difficult. Fibroma, lipoma, atheroma, cysts, tumors, lymphadenitis etc. are found practically in all patients what results in erroneous diagnosis. Toxic and sensibilization reactions don’t develop even at persistent infection (for few months) and toxic events can develop due to mortality of helminth and development of pylsis in patients. One of the main reasons of absence of common manifestations of infection is absence of mircofilariemia. Eosinophilia is also rarely noted because of sensibilization absence. The complete surgical recovery of a helminth has a very important value for diagnosis followed by it’s morphological examination.
