Toxicity of water soluble dosage form of metronidazole for fish.

Summary. LC50 values of 10% metronidazole dosage form for Carassius auratus, Pterophyllum scalare and Danio rerio appear to be 0,800±0,024; 0,780±0,030 and 0,782±0,026 ml/l respectively. Agent’s therapeutic index is 8. 10% metronidazole dosage form appears to be a poor toxic agent. The prolonged existence of fish in solution with agent’s concentration exceeding 2-fold therapeutic one hasn’t resulted in fish intoxication.
