Research worker of All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Fundamental and Applied Parasitology of Animals and Plants named after K.I. Skryabin, Honored Science Worker of Russian Federation (1996), professor (1989),                                     doctor of veterinary sciences (1979), and veteran of the Great Patriotic War.

Date and place of birth: January 8, 1929 (village Kokino of Komarichi  district, Bryansk region).

Background: Veterinarian. In 1947 graduated from the G.V. Plekhanov Zoo Veterinarian college of Gryazi district, Lipetsk region, in 1954 - Voronezh Veterinary Research Institute.

Main research fields: veterinary parasitology, parasitocenology, biology, parasitic zoonoses (echinococcosis, alveococcosis, cysticercosis, cryptosporidiosis, paramphistomatosis, parasitosis of beef cattle at factory farms etc.), elaboration of measures for prevention and struggle against them.  

Employment details: postgraduate student of All-Union Institute of Helminthology named after K.I. Skryabin (1954), junior research associate (1958), senior  research associate (1962), head of laboratory for Sanitary Helminthology (1985), manager of the Soviet Czechoslovak group of scientists on research of parasitic diseases in industrial livestock factories in both countries (1981 – 1990), head of laboratory for mixed parasitic diseases (1988), head of laboratory for  biology and biological basis of prevention (2003-2011).

Extracurricular and scientific activities: member of Dissertation Council for Defenses of PhD and D.Sc. theses at All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Fundamental and Applied Parasitology of Animals and Plants named after K.I. Skryabin, member of the presidium of the Ukrainian Society of Parasitologists (1983).

Basic publications. He is the author of more than 170 scientific works on various issues of veterinary parasitology including 10 in foreign editions, more than 10 normative documents and recommendations for the struggle against diseases were published based on materials of his own investigations: chapters «Gastro-intestinal trematodosis of ruminants» (1995); «Paramphistomatoses», «Coenuroses», «Echinococcosis», «Alveococcosis»  from book «Helminthiases in ruminants» (1968); the chapter «Helminthiases  and their prevention in farms specializing in growing heifers and bred heifers for reproduction » from book «Struggle against helminthiases at factory farms» (1975); «Cryptosporidiosis  in domestic animals» (2007); «New way of determining of anthelmintic resistance in strongyles, strongyloides, and in vitro screening of drugs against them» (2006) etc.  Has two authorship certifications and one invention patent.

Nikitin V.F. has a scientific school: Approximately 20 PhD and doctoral theses were defended under his supervision.

Awards:  Nikitin V.F. was awarded the following medals "For valiant labour in the Great Patriotic war 1941-1945", «60th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War», «850th anniversary of Moscow», «100th anniversary of the birth of academician K.I. Skryabin», the medals and diplomas of All-Union Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy, acknowledgements for achievements in scientific and practical activities.
