Date and place of birth: April 23, 1932 (Arkhangelsk).
Background: veterinarian. In 1956 he graduated from Moscow Veterinary Academy named after K.I. Skryabin.
Main research fields: veterinary parasitology, parasitic zoonoses, elaboration of methods of mathematical modelling and monitoring of epizootic process at helminthiasis; prevention of fasciolosis and other trematodoses; molluscocides and ecological basis of struggle against molluscs – intermediate hosts.
Employment details: technician (1958), senior technician (1959-1960), junior research associate (1960-1967), senior research associate (1967-1986). Since 1986 - Head of the Laboratory of epizootiology and prevention of parasitic diseases.
Extracurricular scientific activities: member of the Presidium of the Society of Helminthologists and Section «Invasive diseases in agricultural animals» of Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences (RAAS), scientific consultant to the section «Agriculture» of Big Russian Encyclopedia, member of the Section of veterinary of scientific – technical council of the Ministry of Agriculture RF, member of Scientific Council on defending of doctoral and PhD dissertations at All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Fundamental and Applied Parasitology of Animals and Plants named after K.I. Skryabin and All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Experimentally Veterinary Medicine named after Ya.R. Kovalenko.
Basic publications: more than 300 scientific works including 6 reviews, 7 books and 4 monographs: « Molluscocides in agriculture» (1978); «Ecological basis of struggle against harmful molluscs» (1983); «Parasitic disease in human (protozoonoses and helminthiases)», «Manual for physicians» under edition of Sergeev V.P. et al. (2006), «Parasitic zoonoses» (2012). Has more than 6 invention patents and authoship certificates.
Gorokhov V.V. has a scientific school: under his management 8 doctoral and 15 PhD theses have been prepared and defended.
Awards: bronze medals of All-Union Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy, acknowledgements from the institutions, diplomas of achievement in scientific and research work.
