Born on August 30th, 1943 in a village Strugi-Krasniye of Leningrad Region. 
Profession: veterinarian. Graduated from the Moscow Veterinary Academy named after K.I. Scriabin in 1966.
The area of academic career: main direction of research are related to the development of tools and methods for the diagnosis, prevention, and control of helminthozoonosis (trichinosis, echinococcosis, bovis cysticercosis, sparganosis, etc.), veterinary control of meat and meat products, disinfection of meat and meat slaughter house tankage, and sterilization of meat from parasitosis pathogens. 
The principal stages of work: Head of the Department of Parasitology of the Moscow Regional Veterinary Laboratory (1966), graduate student of the VNIIP (1968), Junior Researcher of the VNIIP (1971), Senior Researcher (1974), Leading Researcher (1988), Head of the Diagnostics Laboratory (1989), Deputy Director for Research (2000), Director of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fundamental and Applied Parasitology of Animals and Plants named after K.I. Scriabin (VNIIP) (2002), Head of the Laboratory of Zoonoses and Head of Research area. 
Socio-scientific and pedagogical work: Chairman of the Coordinating Council on Veterinary Parasitology in the Russian Federation and CIS countries, Chairman of the Academic Council of the Institute, Chairman of the Dissertation Council, Chairman of the Methodological Commission on Zooparasites of the Russian Academy of Sciences, President of the Society of Helminthologists of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Member of the International Commission for Trichinosis.

He has a scholar school: under his advisory, 19 candidate and 7 doctoral theses have been written and defended.  
He was awarded 7 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze medals of the Exhibition of Economic Achievements and the All-Russia Exhibition Center, has government awards, certificates of acknowledgement, certificates for achievements in work, science and social activities. Uspensky A.V. was awarded with a gold medal named after KI. Scriabin (2013) for achievements in the science of parasitology.
